Actor Rob Schneider, of Deuce Bigalow, The Hot Chick and Big Daddy, recently finished filming scenes of his new movie The Chosen One near the Los Chorros waterfall in Grecia and the Parque Ecológico Tropical Arenal Mundo Aventuras, an ecological park in La Fortuna near the Arenal volcano. Plans to go on to Guapiles were changed to avoid the transportation.

The production company Costa Rica Production Support (CRPS) was in charge of the filming in the country, which they deemed a success. The actual filming was taken care of almost completely by CRPS, allowing Schneider to arrive to the country with just the director, producer, photography director and a camera assistant. CRPS, along with Jeff Debell, known for his work with Pirates of the Caribbean and Miami Vice, were in charge of constructing an indigenous village to serve as the set.

Schneider was also accompanied by his 18-year-old daughter, Elle, during his 10 days in the country. They took one of those days to visit Playa Blanca in Punta Leona near Jaco on the Pacific Coast.

The Chosen One is a comedy that tells the story of a car salesman named Paul who is unsatisfied with his life. When thinking of suicide, three shaman and an Indian appear to him and convince him that he has been chosen to go on a mission to return snow to a South American village where it had since ceased to fall. The Indians in the movie are said to be Arhuacos from Colombia, but due to safety reasons, they decided to do the filming in Costa Rica.

In recognition of the help and support received in Costa Rica, Schneider plans to hold a movie premier in the country in November of this year.
